24 HOURS IN ANIMAL

24 HOURS IN ANIMAL
Design concept
What we do in our daily life is actually the way we try to survive. This project is about the observation of my life in the UK. Showing how I survive in 24 hours and how this action related to the other creatures in the world.
So there will be 24 animal illustrations for each hour in a day, depending on what the habits these characters have. The animals in this booklet are from 7:00 to 18:00 in my day and shown in wrong proportion, which is actually like the reflection of myself.

Background
In 2020, I was far away from home, living a totally different life.It was a remarkable experience to observe the transformations that occurred within me during this time. And it was really interesting to take a observation of myself that what kind of transform have happened. I cooked for myself, go shopping by myself, take adventure by myself, which I had rarely experienced before.
Motivated by curiosity, I documented my daily activities, contemplating what this new version of myself would look like within a span of 24 hours.

Ideation
I noticed that my new life in the UK was starting to follow a routine. I have different things to do throughout the day, and my mood and attitude often change, as if I'm shifting between different modes.
So, I decided to imagine my day as a story of transformation. At different times, I pretend to become different animals to accomplish my tasks.
I didn't want these animal versions of myself to look too real. Instead, I created fantasy versions of them that are still recognizable but have unique shapes.

Design
In my design, I aimed to emphasize the connection between time and animals. To achieve this, I incorporated numbers as a part of the illustrations. I decided to keep the illustrations in a black and white format, resembling simple sketches, to reflect the nature of these drawings as actual notes from my daily life.
On the left side of each sketch, you'll find a clock indicating the specific time. Accompanying the clock is a written mission or task I needed to accomplish during that period.
On the right side, you'll see a depiction of me engaged in that particular moment, capturing the essence of the activity associated with that time.
This design truly brings to life the connection between time and the various tasks I undertake, encapsulating my daily experiences in a relatable and accessible manner.
